Adaptive Parameter Passing

چکیده

Parameter passing is one of the main problems in distributed object-oriented applications. The two simplest solutions passing objects by global reference and passing complete copies of the object graphs both have signi cant drawbacks. Instead, an intermediate amount of copying is often best. The problem is twofold: (i) compilers and operating systems can't automatically make the best decision on how much to copy; (ii) there hasn't been a good mechanism for the programmer to express the intermediate amount of copying that should be done. The contribution of this paper is to present a new mechanism that allows programmers to express in a natural and succinct way how much of the object graph should be copied to the remote context. The speci cations are done using a very simple declarative meta-language { GOOP { that has graphs of classes as domain.

Equidistribution grids for two-parameter convection–diffusion boundary-value problems

In this article, we propose an adaptive grid based on mesh equidistribution principle for two-parameter convection-diffusion boundary value problems with continuous and discontinuous data. A numerical algorithm based on an upwind finite difference operator and an appropriate adaptive grid is constructed. Truncation errors are derived for both continuous and discontinuous problems. Parameter uni...

Distributed Incremental Least Mean-Square for Parameter Estimation using Heterogeneous Adaptive Networks in Unreliable Measurements

Adaptive networks include a set of nodes with adaptation and learning abilities for modeling various types of self-organized and complex activities encountered in the real world. This paper presents the effect of heterogeneously distributed incremental LMS algorithm with ideal links on the quality of unknown parameter estimation. In heterogeneous adaptive networks, a fraction of the nodes, defi...

Fitting the Three-parameter Weibull Distribution by using Greedy Randomized Adaptive Search Procedure

The Weibull distribution is widely employed in several areas of engineering because it is an extremely flexible distribution with different shapes. Moreover, it can include characteristics of several other distributions. However, successful usage of Weibull distribution depends on estimation accuracy for three parameters of scale, shape and location. This issue shifts the attentions to the requ...

Target Tracking with Unknown Maneuvers Using Adaptive Parameter Estimation in Wireless Sensor Networks

Abstract- Tracking a target which is sensed by a collection of randomly deployed, limited-capacity, and short-ranged sensors is a tricky problem and, yet applicable to the empirical world. In this paper, this challenge has been addressed a by introducing a nested algorithm to track a maneuvering target entering the sensor field. In the proposed nested algorithm, different modules are to fulfill...

Rigorous Dynamics and Consistent Estimation in Arbitrarily Conditioned Linear Systems

The problem of estimating a random vector x from noisy linear measurements y = Ax + w with unknown parameters on the distributions of x and w, which must also be learned, arises in a wide range of statistical learning and linear inverse problems. We show that a computationally simple iterative message-passing algorithm can provably obtain asymptotically consistent estimates in a certain high-di...
